Random gun idea(s)

A super shorty made out of a reproduction Burgess shotgun.  12 or 20 gauge and it can fold up and fit in a lunchbox!  I’d settle for a full size folding reproduction that could handle modern ammo.  The classic Winchester pump shotguns are alright, but it’s a shame the company never made their own Burgesses or let anyone else.  It’s an interesting design and would be nifty chambered in .357 mag and other rimmed pistol cartridges.  Maybe even scaled into a folding .45-70.

 

Yesterday’s post

about the exploding barrels makes me want to play Garry’s mod.  It’s been a while and I miss the explosions, bizarre physics contraptions, flailing limbs, and attaching thrusters to objects to launch them off ramps.  Another pastime was turning AI off, then spawning good and bad NPCs and turning it back on to watch them duke it out and see who survives.  So was filling a level with better-armed enemies and trying to kill them with a random weapon like a nambu(+ enough ammo) without dying.

Also I kind of want one of these category-defying 12 gauge things, but $$$.  A laser would help with aiming but I might ditch the return spring if possible.  Would strap to arm like mega man/10.

Since shouldering is no longer legal, has anyone with one of these ever rigged up a handle on kind of a linkage bar(18″ or so) attached to the pump?  What I mean is it would be like a sort of bullpup straight pull allowing the gun arm to be outstretched while the other arm pumps next to it(instead of out in front).  Would it work, or is it just overthinking due to weird regs?

Smart guns have too many what-ifs.  At one point Joe mentions kids not being able to open pill bottles with child-proof lids and essentially says “Why not have that for guns so they can’t pick up their parents guns and shoot?”, completely ignoring the fact that external locks and gun safes exist.  A major factor in accidental shootings is negligence.  People should be encouraged to keep guns secure(and they are), but shouldn’t be mandated to store them certain ways.

Case in point: I used to live somewhat in the sticks and kept a few guns with the mags loaded in a closet.  The reason was for bears and burglars, and even though I never used them on one, they were around and guns were good to have just in case.  It was also quicker to grab one and go to the range to practice than going downstairs, opening the safe, shuffling guns and ammo to get what I needed, then locking it and carrying everything back up.  If I was going to be away, I locked them or took them with me.  If company was over and brought kids, I’d move the guns to a locked case, disassemble them, or try to cram them in the safe.  The solution to the stupid avoidable tragedies where a kid(or adult idiot) picks up a gun and accidentally shoots themselves/someone is diligence.

First it was get a double barrel, now it’s get a smart gun, so the next step will be Double Barrel Smart Shotguns.  Just activate with the thumbprint/ring/watch gimmick and fire two blasts.

I propose the triple barrel top break shotgun:

Top breaks are supposedly limited to puny calibers due to not being very strong, but if the hinge were beefed up it should work.  Since it’s a revolver it would be considered a Destructive Device by the ATF unless it was a .410 though.

Joe gotted the double barrel shotgun and blowed up the door.  “Just fire two blasts down the corridor and it will scare the demons away!” said Joe.  The radio said, no Joe you are the demons.  And then Joe was a zombie.

I’ve been wanting to make this ever since Biden spouted his idiotic home defense tips but never got around to it until now.  That’s not to say a double barrel would be effective against an attacker, but against more than a couple?  Unless someone is Ash Williams or a UAC marine it’s a disadvantage.  He could have at least suggested a pump action shotgun, but not everyone can easily handle the recoil of one.  A politician suggesting a carbine chambered in a pistol or intermediate round might be worthy of a vote.  Even better would be “Get a rifle, pistol, and a shotgun, use accordingly.”, but no, instead we get Bush vs Clinton redux as a main choice (Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders too but not going there) and now the possibility of this guy.  Makes me want to vote for Deeznuts.

 

870 holster

From Scanners (1981).  The Remington 870 is a popular shotgun in real life and the movies.  Sarah Conner used one with a folding stock like this in Terminator 2.  Who would win in a fight, this guy or Muldoon from Jurassic Park with a SPAS-12?  Based on what happened in each movie, I’m guessing it would be a tie.
